This is hands down my favorite Stevie Nicks song off of Trouble In Shangri-La. There is so much to like off this album (Candlebright, the title track, Bombay Sapphires, Fall from Grace, I Miss You, Love Is)- but this one does it for me. I was so happy that she played it live when I last saw her, I wasn't expecting it so it was a nice treat for me.

There is a demo version of this song that she did oh so many years ago with Lindsey for the Buckingham Nicks album, but it never did appear there. Marilyn Martin (who sang Separate Lives w/Phil Collins in the 80s) actually did a recording of Sorcerer, with Stevie doing background vocals... Its was s good version of the song, it was well produced and all, but it just didn't erupt the way song should've. It's real mellow... good, but missing the punch.

Casting aside male producers for Trouble In Shangri-la, Stevie opted to let Sheryl Crow produce the songs, and I gotta give Sheryl some credit... she did a great job on the album, plus she sang and did backing tracks throughout- and she did an excellent job with this song! Stevie mentions that Sheryl really pushed her creatively and inspired her to pull all the old hat tricks out the box and stop playing it so safe... and it worked well.

The song is full of life- after hearing it, I really couldn't imagine it being done any other way. Lyrically, as coded and strange as it may seem; I understand all too much of it... :)

Sorcerer: From: Trouble In Shangri-La

I'm tired, I'm thirsty, I'm wild eyed... in my misery
Timeless, in your finery... it's a high price- for your luxury

Sorcerer... Who is the master?
Man and woman on a star stream
In the middle of a snow dream
Sorcerer... Show me the high life
Come over- let me put you on ice

I'm tired, I need you badly, I'm wild eyed... in my misery
Timeless, in your finery... it's a high price- for your luxury

All around... black ink darkness
Who found... the lady from the mountain?

I'm tired, I'm thirsty, I'm wild eyed... in my misery
Timeless, in your finery... it's a high price- for your luxury

Sorcerer... Who is the master?
Man and woman on a star stream
In the middle of a snow dream
Sorcerer... Show me the high life
Come over- let me put you on ice
